This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to disable the connection test via registry, a common solution to connectivity issues. By following these instructions, you can resolve network problems and improve your internet experience.

The connection test, also known as the ping test, is a diagnostic tool used to check the connectivity between two devices on a network. While it can be helpful for troubleshooting purposes, it can sometimes interfere with network performance, especially on devices with limited resources or unstable connections.

To disable the connection test via registry, follow these steps:

  1. Press "Windows Key + R" to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type "regedit" and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
  4. In the right pane, right-click and select "New" > "DWORD (32-bit) Value".
  5. Name the new value "EnableActiveProbing".
  6. Double-click on the "EnableActiveProbing" value and set the data value to "0".
  7. Click "OK" to save the changes.
  8. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Once you have completed these steps, the connection test will be disabled on your device. This should resolve any issues caused by the test and improve your network performance.

Note: It is important to note that disabling the connection test may affect the accuracy of some network diagnostics tools. If you need to perform network troubleshooting, it is recommended to re-enable the test temporarily.
